Memory Depot Workday
Meet at 10:00AM at the Memory Depot Store in Brodie Oaks Shopping Center at the corner of South Lamar Blvd.and Hwy. 360. The demonstration: Aging Papers. Some ideas for papers, bring maps, music papers, copies of old photos, papers with writing, etc. Supplies to "age" papers include: powdered ice tea, powdered coffee, walnut ink, earth tone paints, etc. Please bring any of these items that you have.
Option: If you have no interest in this topic, bring a project you are working on and use the time in the classroom. Bring collages for the New Zealand project if you are doing that or surprise us!

Studio Tour
The FFCS will have the first artist's gathering of the year on Friday, January 18, at Rae Friedman Dollard's home.
Members gather to meet and greet from 10 to 10:30 am. The program is "Photo Transfers". Rae will show us a lazertran transfer. She will provide a piece of Lazertran to experiment with. We will also have a short meeting and sharing time.
ITEMS TO BRING:
A small photo or design 4x5 inches or less to transfer (so we can get 4 on a sheet of Lazertran).
Bring a substrate to put your transfer on (ex. 300# hotpress watercolor paper)
A sample of a transfer (IF you have one) or look in your books or on the internet for information so we can share our experiences.
New Zealand Collages if they are not already mailed.
LUNCH:
For lunch, Rae has graciously offered to make a tortilla soup. Members and guests will bring side dishes to share.

OPTION # 1: For car pooling: Davenport Shopping Center is on the left after you have turned onto Westlake Drive. Park in there next to the Salt Lick Restaurant, Susan Dell had a dress shop there and it is now empty. We will meet there at 9:35 AM and carpool to Rae's home. Carpool group will leave promptly at 9:45 AM.
OPTION # 2: Directions to her home: Continue on Westlake Drive (approximately 2 miles) to Toro Canyon, turn right and drive approx. 2 and 1/2 miles. Her driveway is on the right - 1908 Toro Canyon Rd.

Meet at 10:00AM at the Memory Depot Store in Brodie Oaks Shopping Center at the corner of South Lamar Blvd.and Hwy. 360. MEMBER DEMONSTRATION: Slow drying Acrylic Paints by Marilyn Rea Nasky. Marilyn will give information about Chroma Atelier Interactive Acrylic with a collage application in mind. You will be able to experiment with these products ON YOUR OWN SURFACE. Please bring a white kitchen trash bag, one SMALL primed canvas or gesso treated board, papers, an acrylic medium for gluing, one styrofoam egg carton (to use as a palette), brayer, brushes and water container. MEMBER DEMONSTRATION: Working with Brown or White Kraft Paper and Acrylics by Debra Samples. Please bring a LARGE RIMMED COOKIE SHEET at least 11"x15". Brown or white paper bags cut to flat, that will fit in your cookie sheet. Small sponges, natural and/or kitchen variety. Rag towel in case you spill on work area. Any acrylic paint you want to work with. Texture items, lace, net, scrapers, forks, spatulas, anything you think can be used to create texture on the paper. Studio Tour
FFCS will have an artist's gathering on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Eva Sim-Zabka's home. 9505 Newberry Dr. Austin, TX 78729 Ph# 512.217-8586. We will gather at 9:45 for visiting, show and tell or critique will be at 10:15 AM and then let's play! She will have all the supplies for playing with mulberry paper, tissue, aluminum foil, watercolor paper, brayer paper and whatever else comes to her mind. You don’t have to bring anything except good humor, creative minds and some snacks. Directions: Going north on Hwy 183 (Research Blvd) take Anderson Mill Rd. exit and stay on frontage road until you get to Anderson Mill Rd. Turn right (east) on Anderson Mill and follow to the first intersection (it will be Pond Springs and you will see traffic lights). Turn left (north) on Pond Spring Rd. Turn right on Shady Oaks. Karen will provide flat doll bases for you to collage for your studio. If you would rather do another shape, bring a piece of mat board cut to the shape desired. Karen suggests bringing a white kitchen trash bag, glue, old brush, a water container, various papers and textures, embellishments, string, yarn, wire, anything you might want to use on your creation. BRING YOUR LUNCH. Tea and water will be provided. We will meet at 9:00AM and activities will begin 9:30 AM. Lunch will be at 12:30 PM. Come for part or all of the activity. She also has an air conditioned studio that can accommodate a large group.
Karen will demonstrate her procedure for using gesso on a canvas. If you decide to try this, please bring a white plastic trash bag, gesso, a canvas no larger than 12 inches x 12 inches, water container, old brush and texturing items and/or you may also bring your brushes, glue, surface, papers and finish a project that you have started. Come and be inspired.

Shirley Zirkle has generously volunteered to do our demonstration. If you have never done anything like this, you will be amazed and will want to spend your summer repeating this at home. SUPPLIES FOR ACRYLIC TISSUES...Golden Fluid Acrylics (in at least 3 colors),1” soft bristle brush for each paint color,
Heavy trash bag (cut so you can use it as a table cloth), Cardboard, large flat pan or mat board for you to carry home your papers, Craft tissue paper,
Small containers, one for each paint color to mix acrylics with water.

Bring your lunch. Sue will provide tea, water, and a small dessert. Please bring one or two mat boards to cut (whatever size you want).
Sue will open her studio for a demonstration on mat cutting (assisted by member, Debra Samples). Sue does many types of art and will show you examples of her beads, knitting, and collages.

Please bring a quart size zip lock bag (or more) of extra papers, materials, etc. to place in the center of the table at Memory Depot. We will then have a fabulous collection to make a small collage with and stun everyone in the room! Be generous with your sharing. Also bring glue, an old magazine to use as a gluing surface, water container and glue brush. Rae Friedman Dollard will be our guide.
